UFC Winnipeg

JOSH Emmett has just made his mark on the UFC Winnipeg with a devastating left hook knockout of Ricard Lamas.

As the two fighters traded blows throughout the opening round, Emmett threw two wild right hands before landing with a left hook that had more power than an atom bomb.

The hit turned Lamas’ lights off instantly as the fighter was sent to the canvas in a crumpled heap.

BODYGUARD’S ‘DEVASTATING’ KO

Nordine Taleb spends his days working as a bodyguard for one of football’s most famous players in Neymar Jr and he showed just how devastating he can be.

Stepping inside the Octagon at the UFC Fight Night in Winnipeg, Taleb stunned his opponent Danny Roberts with a head kick before landing the knockout blow courtesy of a lethal right hand.

The finish came in the opening round of the fight with Taleb controlling the bout before catching Roberts off guard.

EARLY NIGHT FOR BAMGBOSE

It didn’t take long for fans at the UFC Fight Night in Winnipeg to get their money’s worth as Alessio Di Chirico put Oluwale Bamgbose to sleep in the first fight on the preliminary card.

Both men kept their distance at the start of a cagey opening round. A frustrated Di Chirico chased Bamgbose, landing a couple of body kicks but Bamgbose drew first blood, opening up a cut over the Italian’s eye with a straight left.

For the most part Bamgbose was content to sit back even if it meant disappointing the crowd, which was vocal in its disapproval of the lack of action.

But those in the bleachers had their spirits lifted when Di Chirico bounced back from copping an inside leg kick and eating a right hook early in the second round to ensure the judges wouldn’t be called upon.

The 28-year-old made his move and landed two inside punches before a knee to Bamgbose’s head ended the fight, the American face planting on the canvas as his lights went out.

The result will give Di Chirico a much needed confidence boost after he lost his previous fight to Eric Spicely via a first round submission in January.

For Bamgbose it’s another black mark in an underwhelming recent record. This latest loss was his third on the trot stretching back to April last year.
